Robert Arthur Wheaton CD (retired)

Born June 13, 1932 in Verdun, Quebec, passed away peacefully on January, 19, 2018 in St. Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec with his wife Barbara and children by his side. Survived by his wife Barbara (nee Booth) and 5 children, Cheryl (John) of Osoyoos, BC, Steven, Shelley of Calgary, AB, Sharon (Amy) and Robert. He is also survived by his Brother William (Bill) Wheaton of Tampa, Florida, 7 Grand children Thomas (Malinda ), Meredith (Roberto) & Lyndsay (Chris), Jennifer, Andrew (Kris), Barbara (Dan) and Peter, and 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Affectionately known as “Bob” he joined the Royal Montreal Regiment in 1949 and was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major from 1964 to 1968 and 1979 to 1981.  He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 14 in Westmount,Quebec and a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Swanton Chapter, VT. He was a Master Mason, Clarenceville-Nelson Lodge #9, Columbus lodge #11 and the Karnak Shriners. He spent his working career as a Master Locksmith starting with the Montreal Protestant School Board and later owning his own business, Able Locksmiths.  He retired in 1998 to the cottage in Alburgh, VT where he enjoyed fishing and golf and spending time with family and friends. Bob and Barbara later settled in Lacolle where Bob spent many childhood years growing up.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the staff on the second floor, south at Gertrude LaFrance Residence in St.Jean sur Richelieu. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Sun Youth, 4251 St. Urbain, Montreal, Quebec, H2W 1V6 info@sunyouthorg.com in Bob’s name.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the United Church, 1 Rue de L’Eglise N., Lacolle, QC.

Way back when Bob & Barbara were first married they rented a house in Laval for the summer. I can very clearly remember
them walking down the street hand in hand (the lovebirds). I also remember his laugh. My condolences to all.
