November 27, 2016
I am so sorry to read, just today, about the passing of your mother and grandmother, Dorothy, in September. She was a lovely lady, always with a sense of humour. I remember a wonderful Sunday School picnic in her yard, on the river, when I was young. More recently, I remember chatting with her on one of my trips home to see my mother. Thinking of you all.

Karen Tripp dit :

She was a special lady, Dorothy Hannah. A well known figure in Lacolle, always willing to help. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her kids, and for the neighbourhood kids. She was involved. She was loyal and trustworthy. The kind of friend you knew you could always count on. My deepest sympathies to Pat and the family. Karen Tripp (nee Van Vliet)

KEVIN VAN VLIET dit :

My memories of Dorothy Hannah go back to my early childhood. She was like a second mother who we all enjoyed learning from. I remember gaining deep knowledge from the Tyro group in the church basement along with arts and crafts and visiting later at her “Nearly New Shop”. The conversations were always filled with laughter and great humor. Sometimes when our regular school bus driver could not make it, Dorothy was always there to help out with the driving, as she knew where everyone lived. She provided exceptional guidance not only in learning while developing and maturing as a young adult, but also with inspirational creative ideas and much wisdom. Kevin Van Vliet – Montreal

Barbara (VanVliet) and Gary Shufelt dit :

We were saddened to hear the news of Dorothy’s passing. She was a wonderful friend and neighbour for the many years that we had our summer cottage just a couple of houses over. Dorothy welcomed us into her home and was always ready for a visit from the neighbourhood “kids”. She will be missed. Our sympathy to Jeff, Pat and all the family.

Gail and Ian Campbell dit :

I am so sorry we cannot be there to celebrate the life of a wonderful and special lady. Our thoughts will be with you all as you remember Dorothy and share stories. Love to you all who were lucky enough to have her in your lives.

Karen Robinson dit :

Sad to hear of your Mother’s passing…. she will be lovingly remembered by our family as a kind and generous lady. A great bus driver who cared about her young passengers and always greeted them with a big smile.
Know that we are thinking of you Jeff and Pat,

I hope you know how special your mom/grand mom was to our family.
She was a close school friend to my aunt and a dear friend to both my parents and to me and my brothers. So many fond memories of her from the 40 odd years we knew her: from her serving pies at the church supper with my grandmother, sunday school picnics in her yard, joking with her about speeding tickets to just a few weeks ago with her chastising Barend over her beloved books. She was there for our mom so many times for which we are so grateful for.. We loved her tremendously and we will miss her enormously. Our thoughts are with you all. Our thoughts are with Barend as well in this awful time
