Elsa Kramell (nee Lehmann) 1917-2018

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Elsa Bertha Antonie Kramell, on May 18, 2018, at the age of 101. She was born February 17, 1917, in Perwilten, East Prussia to Walter and Olga Lehmann. She is predeceased by her husband Heinz, infant daughter Regina, son Hans- Peter, sister Gerda, and brother Karl.

Mrs. Kramell, best known as Oma, immigrated to Canada with her children after her husband in 1952, settling in Hemmingford in 1955. She was known for her bountiful vegetable garden and raspberry bushes, raising chickens and ducks, tending her flower baskets at home and flower beds at the Village Cenotaph, Protestant Cemetery and Legion Hall, her famous mandarin cheesecake, and Happy Hour at 5 PM. A true Bon Vivant in every aspect of her life. Oma will be remembered for her generosity, hospitality, joy and wonderful sense of humour. She was a solid rock of inspiration and incredible strength.  During her later years Oma could be found sitting on her front porch, enjoying her coffee and cake or evening drink waving and chatting with everyone passing by. She was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Hemmingford, Branch 244, Royal Canadian Legion and, 8th Canadian Hussars Association in Petawawa, ON.

She is survived by her children: Karl of Hemmingford, Volker of Port Coquitlan, BC, Frank (Margaret) of Chilliwack BC, Gisela (Robert) Kuczynski of Dunedin FL, Daughter-in-law: Nancy (Dave Spencer) Kramell of Bradenton FL; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. The family wishes to thank son Karl for the many years of dedication and loving care he provided for his aging Mother.
