She is survived by her sister, Mary Greer of Ormstown, Quebec and her children, Susan (Reinhard Pees) in Cumberland, Ontario, Douglas Campbell (Lai Pheng Lam) in B.C., Catherine (Dan Templeton) in Gorrie, Ontario, and her granddaughter, Lianne Campbell in Montreal. She was predeceased by her husband, Boyd Campbell (1996), her brother, Don Reid, and her parents, R.J.M. (Bob) and Anita Reid.
Annie grew up on a farm near Hemmingford, Quebec and lived most of her life near there. She loved her family, community, and many friends. She kept in frequent contact with family members and friends – good telephone conversations were her forte, especially in recent years. She lived for and loved visits and gatherings at her little blue house. If you unexpectedly visited, you would always be welcome for refreshments or a meal, always served using her best china and silverware. To those who helped her celebrate her most recent birthday, thank you. It was a highlight of her last few weeks.
She was an “outside” person, who preferred working in the orchard or garden over household tasks, although she loved to sew. Many hours were spent doing things outside in the company of the dogs she had over her lifetime, especially her most recent canine companion – Jake. When she could no longer do outside things for herself, she remained engaged in planning and organizing helpers to get work done in the garden of her little blue house.
She volunteered in the community, worked part time at the local elementary school, and was truly pleased to chat with the “kids” that she knew from school as she met them later, as grown ups in the community. She will be remembered because she valued people and was interested in them and their lives. The family wants to thank those who supported Mum in recent years – especially Cathy Dougherty, Patricia Greer, and Wayne and Juanita Hadley.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital or St John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog Program would be gratefully accepted. Cremation has taken place. A service to follow in late spring.
