James Melrose Laurie 1927-2021

Marita and Charlie Waddell dit :

I was very saddened to learn of Jim’s passing last fall. He was a presence in my life in many ways – as one of my patient teachers at CVR, as the beloved Dad and husband in the vibrant ‘Laurie Clan’, as an active member of the Hemmingford community and local apple farmer. – Marita
Through the years, I always enjoyed my apple growing conversations with Jim and he always had good advice on many topics. The one I will always remember is “Charlie, if you have one Yellow Transparent tree in your orchard, it’s one too many!” Jim, may you rest in peace. – Charlie

From Charlie and Marita and the Waddell Family – our sincere condolences to the entire family.

Bob Macfarlane dit :

To the Laurie family;
My deepest sympathies, Mr. Laurie was my science teacher when I attended Hemmingford High as a troubled youth .
He was very patient and understanding, one of the few teachers I was able to learn from, and I never forgot the feeling
that he instilled in me that I was worthwhile and that if I applied myself I could learn, it is so different today with learning difficulties
being identified early. I believe Mr. Laurie was ahead of his time and I am thankful for that.
Mr. Laurie sure lived a full life as he deserved, I am sure he will be sadly missed.
May he rest in peace, and may God bless his family .

Very sorry to hear about Jim, l give my sincere sympathy to Carman and to all the Laurie family.
Some years ago l worked for Carman and Jim. If not on his computer Jim would be found tinkering around on an old tractor or other projects in his garage. He was a well liked man in our community,
he will be missed.
