Gisele Koch 1928-2022 & Gunther Gaese 1929-2022

With great sadness the family of Gisela and Gunther Gaese announce their passing on November 25. 2022 – Gisela (aged 93) at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown, Quebec; Gunther (aged 93) at Anna Laberge Hospital in Chateauguay, Quebec.
Theirs was a love story that spanned more than 70 years. Married on the 31st of August 1952, Gunther and Gisela moved from Montreal to settle into rural life in Hemmingford, Quebec; together they built a loving home and family, surrounded by a beautiful apple orchard, they and their children planted together one tree at a time.

Gunther would go onto a long and successful career of more than 30 years at Pratt and Whitney in Longueuil, Quebec. In early married life, Gisela held various positions both in Montreal and locally in Hemmingford; later she enjoyed being a full-time Mom and active in the community as a life long member of the Women’s Institute in Hemmingford. Without doubt, their greatest joy was their family, now with grand children and great grand children.
Predeceased by their dear son Raymond, survived by his former wife Debbie, and close family friend Donalyn, they leave behind, Gisela’s sister, Sonia, their beloved daughter Christina (Douglas), grandchildren Raymond (Katherine), Nicholas and Dax, great granddaugthers, Amelia and Audrey, loving nieces and nephews and lifelong friends and neighbors.

Our family is thankful that they lived such a long, full and happy life together with all of us. It is perhaps fitting that they passed on the same day – they were always inseparable. After her passing, we wondered if he would have the will to continue without her; on the very same day, just a few short hours later, he passed. Gunther and Gisela, may flights of angels sing you both to your eternal rest, and grant you peace and joy.

A brief gathering of family and friends will be held at :

Visits, on Saturday, December 17th from 1:00 -3:00pm.; a short remembrance will follow.

Private internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in their name to the Barrie Memorial Hospital would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Our condolences

Dear Christina & Douglas & family
My deepest sympathies, I was so saddened when I heard about the passing of both your mom and dad, on the same day, that rarely happens. I was truly upset when I realized that I had not read their death notice carefully enough, and did not get the chance to come and see you in person, I was so looking forward to seeing you, to pay my respects, I can’t remember the last time we talked. I often seen your mom and dad in the village, never missed the chance to spend some time with them chatting about how the family was and how their grand children were doing. I would love to see you, spend some time, reminiscing. They will be missed.

Christina, I was very sorry to hear of the passing of both of your beloved parents, on the same day, meant to be together. I have vivid memories of spending so much time with you and your parents on the farm. We were so young then, but time passes and people leave us. I send my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

Two lovely people I had the pleasure of knowing through picking apples on their farm. They were kind, full of humour and kindness to me and my children.. They treated each other and their family with love. I hope they remain together for eternity. My sincere condolences to all their family, they will be missed.
