With great sadness the family of Gisela and Gunther Gaese announce their passing on November 25. 2022 – Gisela (aged 93) at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown, Quebec; Gunther (aged 93) at Anna Laberge Hospital in Chateauguay, Quebec.
Theirs was a love story that spanned more than 70 years. Married on the 31st of August 1952, Gunther and Gisela moved from Montreal to settle into rural life in Hemmingford, Quebec; together they built a loving home and family, surrounded by a beautiful apple orchard, they and their children planted together one tree at a time.
Gunther would go onto a long and successful career of more than 30 years at Pratt and Whitney in Longueuil, Quebec. In early married life, Gisela held various positions both in Montreal and locally in Hemmingford; later she enjoyed being a full-time Mom and active in the community as a life long member of the Women’s Institute in Hemmingford. Without doubt, their greatest joy was their family, now with grand children and great grand children.
Predeceased by their dear son Raymond, survived by his former wife Debbie, and close family friend Donalyn, they leave behind, Gisela’s sister, Sonia, their beloved daughter Christina (Douglas), grandchildren Raymond (Katherine), Nicholas and Dax, great granddaugthers, Amelia and Audrey, loving nieces and nephews and lifelong friends and neighbors.
Our family is thankful that they lived such a long, full and happy life together with all of us. It is perhaps fitting that they passed on the same day – they were always inseparable. After her passing, we wondered if he would have the will to continue without her; on the very same day, just a few short hours later, he passed. Gunther and Gisela, may flights of angels sing you both to your eternal rest, and grant you peace and joy.
