Peacefully, in his eighty second year, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2024. Son of the late Robert Hadley and the late May Hadley (Akester). Brother of the late Ronald (Fran)Hadley.
Beloved husband of Susan Hadley (Puttee), the love of his life for fifty seven years. Loving and devoted father to sons Sean and Michael (Julie Mainville). Cherished grandfather (Grandpa) to Jessie, Breanna, Matthew and Victoria.
Brother in law of Heather Campbell (Jim) and Heather Puttee (late Richard) and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Glen will be fondly remembered by his family and by his many dear friends.
As a young boy, he helped his father on the family farm. He graduated from MacDonald College with a degree in agriculture. Although many believed that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and continue farming, Glen had other plans. Business was his calling and Glen became an successful insurance broker, where he owned his own agency, insuring the vast majority of houses and vehicles in his native Hemmingford as well as many farms and businesses throughout the Chateauguay Valley.
Devoted to his community, he was very involved in the Hemmingford Chamber of Commerce, the Hemmingford Apple Festival organizing committee and as a member of the Hemmingford Golf Club’s board of directors.
An avid golfer (winning the club championship in 1984) and hunter, he was still very interested in hearing about his son’s and friend’s deer hunting stories from his hospital bed just a few weeks ago.
The family will accept condolences on Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 531 Champlain Avenue, Hemmingford followed by a funeral service at 11:00. Burial will take place immediately after the service at the Hemmingford Protestant Cemetery followed by a reception at Forrest Figsby Memorial Hall (adjacent to church).
The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and support staff at The Montreal Neurological Hospital and especially those at The Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown.
Glen would be very happy to have donations made in his memory to The Barrie Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary
