Glen K. Hadley 1942-2024

Peacefully, in his eighty second year, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2024. Son of the late Robert Hadley and the late May Hadley (Akester). Brother of the late Ronald (Fran)Hadley.

Beloved husband of Susan Hadley (Puttee), the love of his life for fifty seven years. Loving and devoted father to sons Sean and Michael (Julie Mainville). Cherished grandfather (Grandpa) to Jessie, Breanna, Matthew and Victoria.

Brother in law of Heather Campbell (Jim) and Heather Puttee (late Richard) and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Glen will be fondly remembered by his family and by his many dear friends.

As a young boy, he helped his father on the family farm. He graduated from MacDonald College with a degree in agriculture. Although many believed that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and continue farming, Glen had other plans. Business was his calling and Glen became an successful insurance broker, where he owned his own agency, insuring the vast majority of houses and vehicles in his native Hemmingford as well as many farms and businesses throughout the Chateauguay Valley.

Devoted to his community, he was very involved in the Hemmingford Chamber of Commerce, the Hemmingford Apple Festival organizing committee and as a member of the Hemmingford Golf Club’s board of directors.

An avid golfer (winning the club championship in 1984) and hunter, he was still very interested in hearing about his son’s and friend’s deer hunting stories from his hospital bed just a few weeks ago.

The family will accept condolences on Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 531 Champlain Avenue, Hemmingford followed by a funeral service at 11:00. Burial will take place immediately after the service at the Hemmingford Protestant Cemetery followed by a reception at Forrest Figsby Memorial Hall (adjacent to church).

The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and support staff at The Montreal Neurological Hospital and especially those at The Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown.

Glen would be very happy to have donations made in his memory to The Barrie Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary

I met Mr.Hadley on the golf course in Hemmingford on a week night around 6pm.
I was practicing and he came up beside me to hit a few balls.
After a few good shots, he looks over and says “you got a nice swing kid”.
We began to speak for around 30 minutes.
He was an amazing guy, so gentle with so many great stories.
I didn’t know him much, but he seamed happy and satisfied with his life.
He will be missed.
RIP Mr.Hadley

Our condolences

Dear Hadley family,
I am honoured to have known Mr Hadley and hearing him say for the last time “Hey Delisle” made me laugh and cry. I always enjoyed our chats, loved his humour and enjoyed his opinions. It is very hard to say the right thing now, there probably is no right thing. He led a great and cherished life with Susan, his beloved sons, grand kids and extended family. He was proud of you all , and i am sure you are all proud of him. Whatever i can do in this sad time, please know i am only a call away (or a text with a meme from Sean). God bless you all and take peace in knowing he left at the right time, with all of you in his thoughts. Susan, before you travel , we need to discuss and properly navigate the high cost of travel insurance…this was one of my fave topics with Glen. Take care Susan, Mike, Seantini, Yessie, Bre bre Yeah yeah, and Matthew. xoxoxo

So sorry to hear of Glen’s passing. I have the fondest memories of Glen both at his home and playing golf together. I remember competing in 1984 when he won his only club championship. I was too far back going into the final round and although Glen may have not been favoured to win, I was rooting for him. Visibly nervous, but nonetheless I believe he shot a solid 74 for the victory. He was over the moon. It is a memory of Glen that has remained with me to this day. His smile and laughter lit up the room and will be sadly missed. To Susan, Sean & Michael…the countless hours I spent with you all at your family home since we were children are vivid. Glen loved you all so so much. A husband and father who cherished his family. There can be no bigger compliment. To a life well lived and a legacy of warmth that continues with his loved ones carrying the torch. My deepest and sincere sympathies for your loss. Glen you’ll now be able to escape the bunkers with ease my friend. ⛳️ 💙
