Mark Catto, 2014-05-16

It is with great sorrow that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, cherished son, dear brother and uncle, at the age of fifty-four, on May 16, 2014. Born in Montreal, Mark Catto was predeceased by his father the late Charles Catto; survived by his loving wife and soul mate Donna Gracie Catto (nee McKay); proud and loving mother Nan Reid; brothers Roy (Lucie) and Chuck (Denise); sister Wendy; nieces and nephews David, Gabrielle, Jack and Zoe; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and their extended families.

Mark touched and enriched the lives of many people with his contagious smile, genuine kindness, upbeat attitude and ever generous heart. He was passionate about his family and friends, enjoying life and hockey (Go Bruins Go!) He was dedicated to his work and always ready for the next challenge. His friends were many, his friendships true; without you Mark, whatever will we do?

Forever in our hearts, we say thank you for the memories, for the treasured time you shared with us.We will miss you, our love for you is eternal, rest in peace.

Nous partageons votre chagrin

Donna, Catto family, I was absolutely stunned upon my return from vacation to learn of Mark’s very sudden passing. We chatted briefly prior to my vacation. As always, he wished me a fun and safe time. I am so terribly sorry that he has been taken so quickly and so young. Having know Mark for more than 14 years I always appreciated his humour and his dedication to his sports loyalties. He set the bar very high here at UPS. The pain of his loss is being felt all across UPS Canada. My prayers and best wishes are with you at this terribly difficult time. Take good care of yourselves.

I am saddened to hear of Mark’s sudden passing. I had the pleasure of working with Mark, and learned alot from him. He brought such knowledge to any project that he worked on. Which was why he was the “go to guy” for so many. I enjoyed his sarcasm, humor, wit & honesty. I, along with many others, will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this time.

To the Catto family,
the Messier family would like to express our deepest sympathies to all of your family and friends. Myself, my father and Mark were co-workers at Starber and we always had great hockey conversations when we met over a beer after work.

What a great guy we all lost. My father who passed away last year was also a Bruins fan and will definately greet him with a few cold ones upstairs, that for sure.

RIP buddy

Our thoughts are with you in this moment of grief

As co-worker, Mark was a man of incomparable knowledge & integrity that had his way of getting things done with his charisma and great smile (although I’ve always referred to him as my favorite grump) . He was also a longtime friend and had always made himself available to cheer me up when I needed it. It was just recently that we had gotten back in touch after I had been away from the office after a lengthy sick leave & his move to Ontario, Mark gave me call out of nowhere to whish me welcome back (kiddo, as he called me) and catch up. Drinks with Delisle at Winnies will never be the same without you Catto… good old Canadian kid, put her right there as we used to say! You’re presence amongst us ended so suddenly but your memory will live on forever my friend. To Donna, the Catto family and his friends, my sincere sympathies to all of you. May you find the strength to get through these difficult moments.

I want to express my condolences to Mark’s family at this sad time. Mark was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. He was very personable and during our business meetings we did talk about our careers starting in Lacolle, but I didn’t realize that I actually knew his family. Nan / Chuck, I am so sorry for your loss.

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to a good friend. This authentic Canadian lived from coast to coast, seeding friendship and joy all around him. His sense of humor, smile and laughs will be missed as much as his professionalism, sense of responsibilities and dedication in all aspects of his life. I want to extend my sincere condolences to Donna, family and friends.

As long as I leave, Mark will always be in my heart, and memories will only be great memories.

Que la paix soit avec vous

Donna and Catto family:

I always considered myself a close friend and colleague of Mark. Over the 20+ years we’ve known each other we’ve worked together on many projects. We worked hard but always had fun. Mark brought passion & joy to everything we worked on. Recently as we car pooled into the city we’d listen to Q107 radio and rock on, laugh, make jokes and pass the time together. His joyous company made the time pass much quicker as he returned home each night to his beloved wife Donna.

Missing you so much Mark, but also grateful for the years I’ve know year.

Peace my friend.

With love & respect

Mark, You are so very much missed by all of your friends & colleagues at UPS. Everyone is remembering the stories, the work, the challenges, the fun, the accomplishments through the many years we have worked together. As your “car pool buddy” and friend, it is a lonely drive into the office with much time to reflect on your jokes, your hockey banter, our listening to Q107 radio station and rocking on! (ok TMI – you’d be saying)

I miss you very much. I’m proud to have been your friend.

Mark touched the lives of many people from Coast to Coast, just like the old Foster Hewitt introduction on Hockey night in Canda. I had the pleasure of calling him a true friend, who put family first and foremost. He always had a smile on his face and a prank to pull on a friend. It is hard to believe he has left us, my thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family. He maybe gone but never forgotten!
